Despite the temporary halt, other bus lines will continue operations. The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has also issued special permits for the deployment of additional buses to accommodate the surge of passengers traveling for the long weekend.
In a report by RH 15 Jecelle Ricafort in DZRH's Dos Por Dos, according to PITX management, around 554,000 passengers have passed through the terminal from October 27 to 29, with 21,000 passengers recorded as of 6:00 a.m. today alone. Officials expect the number to rise to nearly 200,000 travelers throughout the day as commuters head to their home provinces to visit departed loved ones.
Authorities have deployed K9 units and established assistance desks inside the terminal to ensure safety and order.
PITX clarified that the temporary suspension of select provincial routes is not unusual, as similar adjustments have been implemented in previous Undas and holiday travel periods.
