State volcanologists have logged another effusive eruption lasting 40 minutes at Mayon Volcano on Wednesday, June 24.

Based on the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology’s (PHIVOLCS) 24-hour monitoring, lava was observed to have been flowing as far as 3.8 kilometers down from Basud Gully, 3.2 kilometers from Bonga Gully, and 1.8 kilometers to one side of Mi-isi Gully.

The flow of lava occurred from 2:20 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.

The volcano has been experiencing effusive eruptions for 170 consecutive days as of reporting.

Aside from the blazing lava flow, PHIVOLCS also noted pyroclastic density currents or “uson,” rock collapse, eight volcanic earthquakes, and four volcanic tremors that lasted from one minute to half an hour.

Alert Level 3 prevails over Mt. Mayon, barring individuals from crossing into the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone.
