Marcos said the NSCR project will provide commuters with a faster and more efficient transportation option as the government continues to expand the country’s railway network.

“Sa susunod na taon, ang mga tren ng North-South Commuter Railway ay tatakbo na sa pagitan ng Valenzuela at Malolos. Sisikapin ng DOTr na sa pagtatapos ng administrasyong ito, tapos na rin ang railway hanggang Clark,” Marcos said during his address.

The President also highlighted other major transportation projects expected to progress in 2027, including the opening of the first 12 stations of the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7), the first phase of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), and the Ilocos Norte BRT.

For the MRT-7, Marcos said the initial 12 stations are expected to begin operations next year, covering the route from North Avenue to Sacred Heart in Quezon City before eventually extending to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.

According to Marcos, the completed MRT-7 line is expected to serve nearly one million passengers daily once fully operational, easing congestion and improving mobility for commuters between Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

The President attributed the faster progress of infrastructure projects to the implementation of the Accelerated and Reformed Right of Way Act, which aims to address delays caused by right-of-way issues.

“Thanks to the recently enacted Accelerated and Reformed Right of Way Act, right-of-way issues are now quickly resolved, removing the biggest chokepoint in our mass transit development program,” Marcos said.

The administration said these railway and public transportation projects form part of its efforts to create a more connected transport system, reduce travel time, and provide more reliable mobility options for Filipinos.
