The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has clarified that the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) will proceed with its full 14-station alignment, dismissing circulating reports that the San Jose del Monte station has been removed or that only 13 stations will push through.
In an official statement released by the agency, the DOTr emphasized that the San Jose del Monte (SJDM) Station remains part of the approved project plan and has not been scrapped.
“The Department of Transportation (DOTr) wishes to clarify that the MRT-7 project will still operate with 14 stations, contrary to circulating reports that only 13 stations will push through,” the statement read.
It further clarified: “The San Jose del Monte (SJDM) Station remains part of the MRT-7 project and has not been removed from the approved alignment.”
The agency also confirmed that the project remains on schedule, with the initial 12 stations—from Sacred Heart to North Avenue—targeted to begin operations by the second quarter of 2027. This timeline follows the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to fast-track major infrastructure projects aimed at improving commuter mobility.
Additionally, the DOTr noted that the remaining stations, including Tala and SJDM, are expected to be completed and opened to the public in 2028.
SJDM Station is located in San Jose del Monte, a key endpoint in the northern extension of the rail line intended to serve growing commuter demand in Bulacan and surrounding areas.
The DOTr reiterated its commitment to completing the project as planned, underscoring that no changes have been made to the approved MRT-7 alignment despite online misinformation.
