The Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) MRT-3 line will offer free rides to Filipino veterans from April 6 to 11, 2026, in observance of the 84th anniversary of Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) and Philippine Veterans Week.
The DOTr-MRT3 announced that veterans can avail themselves of the free service during all hours of operation by presenting a valid Veteran’s ID or any government-issued identification to station personnel. In exchange, they will be issued a Single Journey Ticket (SJT).
To further assist the former service members, each veteran is permitted to bring one aide or companion, who will also ride for free.
Transportation officials said the initiative serves as a gesture of gratitude and recognition for the sacrifices made by veterans in securing the country's freedom.
The week-long celebration of Philippine Veterans Week coincides with the national holiday on April 9, which commemorates the fall of Bataan during World War II.
