Train operations of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) returned to normal on Thursday morning, October 22, after a door malfunction on a southbound train caused passenger congestion at several stations.
In an advisory, the Department of Transportation (DOTr)-MRT-3 said the incident occurred at Araneta-Cubao Station at around 8:18 a.m., affecting passenger flow at North Avenue, Quezon Avenue, GMA-Kamuning, and Araneta-Cubao stations.
Train operations were temporarily halted to allow the safe transfer of affected passengers. The succeeding train arrived at Araneta-Cubao Station at 8:26 a.m.
The defective train was subsequently pulled out of service and brought to the depot for inspection and maintenance, according to the DOTr-MRT-3.
By 9:10 a.m., operations had normalized, with light passenger volume reported across all stations.
The DOTr-MRT-3 apologized for the inconvenience and thanked passengers for their patience and understanding, reiterating that passenger safety remains its top priority.
