The MRT-3 maintenance service provider apologized following a technical issue that had temporarily disrupted regular operations on Wednesday morning.
In a statement shared by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Wednesday afternoon, Sumitomo Corporation and its technical partner TES Philippines Inc. offered its apologies and said that it will investigate the incident to determine what measures to implement so as to preempt recurrences.
According to a report, provisional service was implemented between North Avenue and Shaw Boulevard and vice versa at around 5:50 a.m., due to a technical issue between the Buendia and Guadalupe Stations.
DOTr Secretary Giovanni “Banoy” Lopez has issued a show cause order (SCO) against Sumitomo and its consultants.
Operations resumed at around 6:57 a.m.
The MRT-3 management at noon announced that rides for the rest of the day will be free of charge.
“Tinitiyak namin na isinasagawa ang lahat ng kinakailangang hakbang upang maiwasan ang kahalintulad na insidente at higit pang mapabuti ang kalidad ng aming serbisyo,” the DOTr MRT-3 said in a statement shared on social media.
