The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) conducted its annual Holy Week maintenance program on Wednesday, deploying personnel across all stations and its depot to conduct extensive system upgrades and repairs.

The agency reported that technical teams are currently executing track works, which include turnout replacement, rail grinding, and the installation of new track components. These measures are designed to ensure the structural integrity of the line's railway infrastructure.

Power system maintenance is also underway, involving the servicing of switchgears and the replacement of contact wires. In the area of signaling and communications, workers are replacing shunt cables and conducting preventive maintenance on the CCTV network and public address systems.

The maintenance schedule covers station buildings and facilities as well. Engineering teams are performing preventive maintenance on digital clocks and fire alarm systems. Heavy mechanical work is also being conducted on station conveyance systems, including the replacement of escalator shaft assemblies and top drive sprockets, alongside load testing for all elevators.

Additional activities include the maintenance of passenger turnstiles, the repair of floor tiles, and the repainting of platform markings. General cleaning of station premises is also being conducted throughout the transit line.

The MRT-3 management stated that these efforts are part of a broader commitment to provide safe and reliable transportation for Filipino commuters. Operations are suspended during the maintenance period and are scheduled to resume following the conclusion of the Lenten break.
