The Malacañang Press Corps (MPC) has firmly denied circulating allegations that its members are being used or paid to conceal the President's true health condition, stressing its commitment to accurate and verified reporting.
In an official statement released on April 12, the MPC described the claims as baseless, saying, “Mariing pinapabulaanan ng Malacañang Press Corps (MPC) ang alegasyong kami ay nagpapagamit sa Malacañang o di kaya’y nabayaran para pagtakpan ang totoong estado ng kalusugan ng Pangulo.”
The group emphasized that the President’s health is a matter of national security and that their reports are grounded in verified information obtained through official briefings and direct sources.
It noted that past reports and press briefings clearly show how government officials provide updates regarding the President’s condition.
“Nanindigan ang MPC sa katotohanan ng mga ulat na inilabas ng aming mga kasapi nitong nakaraang linggo,” the MPC stated, reaffirming its integrity. It also condemned attempts to discredit journalists and mislead the public for vested interests.
The organization highlighted that its members follow strict verification processes before releasing information, unlike some social media content creators who rely on speculation.
“Madaling magbintang. Madaling gumawa ng mga kwento… Hindi ito gawain ng mga responsableng mamamahayag,” the statement read.
The MPC urged the public to remain critical of unverified claims circulating online and to rely on credible sources of information. Despite the controversy, the group vowed to continue its duty to report fairly and truthfully on the actions and policies of the President.
“Patuloy kaming papanig sa katotohanan at titindig para sa interes ng bayan,” the MPC said.
