A senior citizen mother and her elderly daughter died on Tuesday after becoming trapped inside their home during a fire that swept through a residential area in Barangay Poblacion Tabing Dagat, as reported by RH Noche Cacas

Authorities identified the victims as Liezel De Jesus Eusebio, 53, and her mother, Fe De Jesus Eusebio, 79.

Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) officials found the victims’ bodies inside the bathroom of their home. Fire Chief Inspector Beverly De Leon, head of the Bacoor BFP, said the two appeared to have been hugging when they were overcome by the blaze.

Investigators believe the women were unable to escape because the fire spread rapidly through the neighborhood, where many houses are built of light, flammable materials.

The fire broke out shortly after 2 p.m. and reached the first alarm before firefighters were able to contain it.

Mayor Strike Revilla and Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla issued a joint statement expressing their condolences to the Eusebio family and promising aid to those who lost their homes.

While some displaced residents have moved to government evacuation centers, others are staying with relatives. Community members have also issued a public plea to Sen. Bong Go for emergency assistance to help the neighborhood rebuild.
