Filipino singer-songwriter Morissette Amon will take on the role of 'Middle Allie' in the upcoming international premiere of The Notebook: The Musical, set to open in Manila this September.
The production, presented by Theater Group Asia, will run from September 3 to 20 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati City.
The casting announcement was made on April 12 via the company’s social media pages. Creative Director Clint Ramos said the role was both vocally and emotionally demanding, noting, “It takes a special kind of vocalist and actress to tackle this role. We’re overjoyed that Morissette welcomed the prospect.”
Morissette said returning to the stage came at the right time in her career. “I am over the moon that after a decade, I will be returning to the theatre… I am both excited and nervous,” she said.
Based on the novel by The Notebook, the musical adaptation—also inspired by the 2004 film starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams—features music and lyrics by Ingrid Michaelson and a book by Bekah Brunstetter. It premiered in Chicago in 2022 and tells the love story of Noah and Allie across three stages of life.
Morissette’s casting marks her return to theater after 10 years, following recent milestones including her “EMBER” concert and her Best Actress win at the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF).
Tickets will be available starting April 20 with pre-sale for BPI cardholders and April 24 for a general public sale.
