Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla said Saturday that more cases are being prepared against lawmakers allegedly linked to contractors earlier flagged for complaints by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Speaking during DZRH’s Executive Session on Saturday, July 4, Remulla said the number of cases goes beyond initial reports.
“Mahigit walo ’yan, hindi lang walo ’yan,” Remulla said.
“Tuloy-tuloy na ’yan. May PI na tayo,” he added, indicating that preliminary investigations related to the nationwide flood control scandal are already underway.
The remarks came as authorities pursue complaints involving alleged ties between sitting and former members of Congress and private construction firms that have faced scrutiny over anomalous government infrastructure projects.
In an earlier statement, former ICI chair Andres Reyes identified the alleged congressmen-contractors as:
-
Former Rep. Elizaldy Co for FS Co. Builders Supply;
-
Construction Workers Solidarity Party-list Rep. Edwin Gardiola for Newington Builders, Inc., Lourel Development Corp., and S-Ang General Construction and Trading, Inc.;
-
Uswag Ilonggo Party-list Rep. James Ang Jr. for IBC International Builders Corp. and Allencon Development Corp.;
-
Pusong Pinoy Party-list Rep. Jernie Jett Nisay for JVN Construction and Trading;
-
Bulacan 2nd District Rep. Augustina Pancho for CM Pancho Construction, Inc.;
-
Cagayan 3rd District Rep. Joseph Lara for JLL Pulsar Construction Corp.;
-
Surigao del Norte 1st District Rep. Francisco Matugas for Boometrix Development Corp.; and
-
Tarlac 3rd District Rep. Noel Rivera for Tarlac 3-G Construction and Development Corp.
Reyes also detailed their alleged affiliations with construction firms tied to government projects under review.
Remulla added that more high-profile cases tied to alleged corruption will be disclosed by his office in the coming weeks, signaling a broader crackdown on irregularities in public infrastructure projects.
The Ombudsman’s office has not yet released details on the case build-up but said investigations are ongoing.
