MBC Media Group (MMG), which manages some of the country’s best-known radio stations, has seen advancements in spite of a rapidly shifting media landscape, MMG President Ruperto “Jun” Nicdao Jr. said during the company’s annual stakeholders meeting.
Both the company’s consolidated revenues and net income improved in 2024, driven largely by strong performance in the company’s radio networks, Nicdao said, proving that radio remains “one of the most trusted and effective platforms to reach Filipinos nationwide.”
“Our progress must be viewed against the backdrop of a rapidly changing media landscape. Traditional media has come under pressure as advertisers allocate more of their budgets to digital platforms. Yet, radio continues to stand out as both cost-efficient and trusted—especially in the regions where personal connection with communities matters most,” he said on Thursday.
While MMG’s competitors struggled, the company flourished, surpassing industry trends and increasing its revenues, the company president said.
The media company also adopted an “aggressive digital transformation strategy” to keep up with the contemporary media scene, which allowed for a multi-platform presence.
MMG also deepened its social efforts, serving thousands of communities and over a million Filipinos nationwide.
“With the support of Unilab and other partners, we have been conducting regular free medical and dental missions, water projects, transportation assistance, and many more activities,” Nicdao shared, adding that the company’s social responsibility arm was mobilized in response to Typhoons Carina and Pepito, and is now delivering aid to earthquake victims in Cebu.
For 2025, MMG will continue to enhance its core strengths while building for the future, with its priorities in updating radio programming, expanding television and digital offerings, scaling bundled advertising and creative campaigns, among other things.
After a year of “renewed strength and strategic positioning,” MMG is ready and well-equipped to thrive in a marketplace driven by digital innovation.
