Organizers of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) on Tuesday announced the first four official entries for its 2026 edition, signaling a mix of sequels, star-driven projects and genre films for this year’s lineup.

The announcement was made during the festival’s kickoff event held at GH Mall in San Juan.

Leading the initial slate is “2nd Miracle in Cell Number 7,” headlined by Aga Muhlach. The film serves as the sequel to the 2019 Filipino adaptation of the hit Korean drama, which was a commercial and critical success during its MMFF run.

Also joining the lineup is “Amir,” directed by acclaimed filmmaker Zig Dulay. The film stars Argus Aspiras, Dennis Trillo, Will Ashley and Glaiza de Castro, and is expected to bring a dramatic narrative to the festival.

A horror entry “Haunted Carnival,” directed by Joey De Guzman, features an ensemble cast led by Julia Barretto, Fyang Smith, Maricel Soriano, James Reid and John Arcilla. The film adds a genre offering to the early list of entries.

Completing the first batch is “The GrEATest SHOWdown,” directed by Jun Robles-Lana, starring comedy heavyweights Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto. The pairing marks a major collaboration between two of the country’s most bankable box-office stars.

MMFF overall chairman and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chief Atty. Don Artes also announced that cinema ticket prices for the festival will be capped at ₱299. Lower ticket prices are also expected in provincial areas.

The MMFF is traditionally held from December through early January, showcasing Filipino films across genres while drawing large holiday audiences nationwide. Additional entries are expected to be announced in the coming months.
