The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) expects traffic congestion to intensify next week with the start of the Christmas rush.
In a briefing in Pasig City, MMDA Chairman Atty. Don Artes said Metro Manila has yet to experience a full “carmageddon” despite noticeable traffic buildup during rush hours. Over 2,000 MMDA personnel are already deployed to help manage road congestion.
The agency is closely monitoring the transport strike set for December 9, with Artes assuring the public of their readiness to assist commuters who may be affected.
The statement was made during the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between MMDA and GCash, allowing the use of the MayHuliKa app for digital payment of penalties under the No-Contact Apprehension program.
