The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) suspended the implementation of the Expanded Number Coding Scheme starting at 10:30 a.m. Friday due to continuous rains brought by the southwest monsoon, or habagat.

The MMDA announced the suspension as an orange rainfall warning was raised over Metro Manila, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite and Batangas, according to a 10:10 a.m. bulletin from the PAGASA-National Capital Region PRSD.

Under an orange rainfall warning, heavy to intense rains are expected, which may cause flooding and landslides in affected areas.

The MMDA urged motorists to plan their trips, exercise caution while driving and stay updated on weather conditions.

The agency also advised the public to monitor flood and traffic updates through its official Facebook page or by calling the MMDA 136 hotline.

PAGASA warned residents in areas under the orange rainfall warning to prepare for possible evacuation to safer locations as conditions could deteriorate.
