The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday, Nov. 3, reminded motorists that the number coding scheme has resumed in Metro Manila.

The agency said the Expanded Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), or number coding scheme, is enforced from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, except on holidays.

Under the scheme, vehicles are prohibited from traveling on Metro Manila roads during restricted hours based on the last digit of their license plates.

Vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 are restricted on Mondays, 3 and 4 on Tuesdays, 5 and 6 on Wednesdays, 7 and 8 on Thursdays, and 9 and 0 on Fridays.

Motorists may travel during the designated window hours from 10:01 a.m. to 4:59 p.m. and from 8:01 p.m. to 6:59 a.m. the following day.

The MMDA said the scheme exempts public utility vehicles, transport network vehicle services, motorcycles, garbage trucks, marked government vehicles, petroleum trucks, marked media vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, and vehicles carrying perishable or essential goods.

The number coding scheme is automatically suspended during regular and special nonworking holidays, the agency added.
