As Metro Manila continues to face recurring flooding, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said it is exploring innovative and sustainable ways to address the problem through upcoming flood mitigation projects.

According to Atty. Victor Maria Nuñez, Director III of the MMDA Traffic Enforcement Group, the agency remains committed to addressing some of the capital region’s biggest challenges, including traffic congestion, waste management, and flooding, while continuously improving its services to the public.

Nuñez revealed that among the agency’s upcoming initiatives are nature-based solutions, reflecting a shift toward more environmentally sustainable approaches to flood control.

“We’re doing so many projects at may mga impending projects kami para ma-counter yung flooding sa Metro Manila at nauso po ngayon yung mga nature-based solutions. ‘Yon po yung mga bagong programa na ipapatupad ng MMDA para ma-counter yung flooding dito,” he shared in an interview with DZRH Television's Point of View.

He added that these projects form part of the agency’s broader strategy to strengthen Metro Manila’s resilience against extreme weather events and lessen the impact of flooding on communities across the metropolis.

As the agency prepares to roll out these initiatives, Nuñez assured the public that the MMDA will continue enhancing its services and pursuing long-term solutions aimed at improving the quality of life of Metro Manila residents.
