Raúl Rocha, president and co-owner of the Miss Universe Organization, has been charged by Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office (FGR) for alleged involvement in drug, weapons, and fuel trafficking, according to a report by Reforma and People’s Magazine.
Rocha, who also serves as Guatemala’s consul in Mexico, is identified in the report as an alleged leader of a group that smuggles fuel from Guatemala to Mexico.
On August 6, an agent from Mexico’s Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime requested an arrest warrant for Rocha on organized crime charges.
As part of the investigation, authorities reportedly raided several properties and said they recovered documents indicating financial contributions linked to the alleged criminal operation.
The arrest warrant cited by Reforma also states that members of the group allegedly maintain connections with officials across multiple levels of government.
Federal sources told the outlet that Rocha approached investigators in October to discuss a possible plea agreement. Neither Rocha nor the Miss Universe Organization has issued a comment.
The report comes shortly after the 2025 Miss Universe pageant, which faced several controversies, including judge withdrawals, complaints about scoring, and a walkout following a dispute involving Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch, who later won the title.
