Miss Grand International 2026 will no longer be held in India, as the Miss Grand International (MGI) Organization announced Thursday that it has decided to relocate the remaining activities of the competition to Thailand.

In an official announcement, the organization said the decision was made after the host country allegedly failed to fulfill its contractual commitments and the standards agreed upon with MGI.

According to the organization, the host country was required to provide five-star hospitality and five-star production standards throughout the competition to ensure the safety, comfort and overall experience of the contestants, while maintaining the pageant’s professional standards.

“Unfortunately, despite discussions and efforts to address the situation, the agreed contractual standards have not been met,” MGI said.

The organization said continuing the competition under the circumstances would not be in the best interests of the contestants, staff, partners and the organization. It consequently decided to end all activities in India and transfer the remaining competition to Thailand.

Under the revised schedule, Miss Grand International 2026 will be held in Thailand from September 18 to October 10, 2026.

MGI said further details on the new schedule, venues, activities and arrangements in Thailand will be announced at a later date.

Among the contestants affected by the host-country change is Angelica Lopez, who will carry the Philippine flag at Miss Grand International 2026. Lopez was crowned Reina Filipinas Grand International 2026 and earned the right to represent the Philippines in the international competition.

The transfer also brings the competition to Thailand, the home country of the Miss Grand International organization, for its 2026 edition.

MGI thanked the contestants, partners, supporters and everyone involved in the competition for their understanding and continued support as the organization implements the change in host country.
