Chelsea Fernandez’s return to the Philippines turned into a province-wide celebration as Sultan Kudarat welcomed its homegrown beauty queen with pride, pageantry, and a special honor now etched into the local calendar.

Following her first runner-up finish at Miss Cosmo 2025 in Vietnam, Fernandez was greeted with a hero’s welcome that highlighted not only her international achievement but also her deep roots in her hometown.

In a formal recognition ceremony, the provincial government of Sultan Kudarat appointed Fernandez as its tourism ambassadress upon her arrival. More significantly, officials declared December 20—the date of the Miss Cosmo 2025 coronation night—as “Miss Chelsea Day,” a tribute to the milestone she achieved on the global stage. The declaration symbolized how her success resonated far beyond the pageant arena and into the heart of her community.

Fernandez’s Miss Cosmo journey was closely followed by Filipino pageant enthusiasts as she consistently stood out among candidates from around the world. Throughout the competition, she displayed poise, eloquence, and confidence in the preliminary events, swimsuit, and evening gown segments. Her performance positioned her as one of the strongest contenders leading up to the finals night.

A defining visual from her campaign was the icy blue and silver dragon-inspired gown she wore during the jury session. Designed by Filipino designer Leo Almodal, the intricately detailed gown featured hand-embroidered scales, crystal flames, and a dragon crest symbolizing strength and protection—qualities many supporters said mirrored Fernandez’s composure throughout the pageant.

During the coronation night’s question-and-answer portion, Fernandez delivered a thoughtful response centered on cultural pride and women’s empowerment, further solidifying her place among the top finalists. She ultimately earned the first runner-up title alongside Miss Cosmo 2025 winner Yolina Lindquist of the United States.

The homecoming parade in Isulan on January 28 became a festive display of gratitude from her kababayans. Riding a blue float inspired by the Miss Cosmo crown, Fernandez was welcomed by a marching band and crowds lining the streets from the Municipal Hall of Isulan to the Provincial Capitol. Supporters waved banners and cheered as the province celebrated its newly declared “Miss Chelsea Day.”

The celebrations extended to Manila on January 30 at the SM Mall of Asia, where fans gathered for another grand homecoming event. Wearing the same dragon gown from the competition, Fernandez brought a piece of her Miss Cosmo journey back to Filipino supporters before preparing to return to Vietnam on February 1 to resume her duties as Miss Cosmo 2025 runner-up.
