The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded a minor phreatomagmatic eruption at the main crater of Taal Volcano between 10:20 AM and 10:22 AM on April 9, 2026, based on time-lapse footage from monitoring stations.
The brief event generated a 300-meter plume, as observed by the Main Crater (VTMC) and Daang Kastila (VTDK) stations located on the western and northern rims of the crater.
Despite the activity, Alert Level 1 remains in effect, indicating low-level unrest. Authorities continue to monitor the volcano closely and advise the public to stay vigilant.
