A minor phreatic eruption occurred at the summit crater of Taal Volcano at 11:42 a.m. on Monday, October 13, 2025, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The event produced steam-driven plumes rising approximately 900 meters above the crater, as captured by the volcano’s Main Crater IP camera, PHIVOLCS said in its latest advisory.

Authorities confirmed that Alert Level 1 (low-level unrest) remains in effect over Taal Volcano, indicating that the volcano is currently unstable and may exhibit steam-driven or phreatic explosions, volcanic earthquakes, and gas emissions.

PHIVOLCS reminded the public that entry into Taal Volcano Island and the Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) is strictly prohibited due to the possibility of sudden eruptions and hazardous gas emissions.

Residents around Taal Lake are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions against possible ashfall and volcanic smog (vog), especially in low-lying areas surrounding the volcano.

The agency continues to closely monitor Taal Volcano’s activity and assures the public that any significant developments will be immediately reported.
