A Hannah-versary is finally happening!
Miley Cyrus will again channel her inner pop star as she goes back to her Disney roots for the highly anticipated “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special.”
The iconic show that soundtracked and defined childhoods will return exactly two decades after its Disney Channel debut—an event that skyrocketed Miley Cyrus into superstardom. From the blonde wig, the fabulous rotating closet, and bedazzled cropped jackets, Cyrus is revisiting her Disney era and taking fans on a journey back to both her worlds.
According to Disney Plus, the special will be filmed in front of a live studio audience, featuring an exclusive, in-depth interview with none other than Hannah Montana herself. Hosted by Alex Cooper, co-creator and host of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, the interview will offer “an intimate look at the creation of one of pop culture’s most iconic characters and the lasting impact the show and character have had on fans around the world.”
“Viewers will be treated to never-before-seen archival footage, while some of the most memorable sets from “Hannah Montana” are brought back to life — including the Stewart family living room and the legendary Hannah Montana closet. There will also be some familiar *notes* that find their way back into the spotlight,” the streaming platform said.
Upon its release, “Hannah Montana” quickly became a fan-favorite among Disney shows, redefining kids’ television, music and fashion. The Emmy-nominated show generated 14 platinum and 18 gold albums worldwide. It also had two feature films: Hannah Montana: The Movie in 2009, and Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds Concert in 2009.

What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection,” Miley expressed. “The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of. This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.”
On Wednesday, February 18, Miley and Disney+ officially released the first teaser for the series’ 20th Anniversary Special. In the short video, Miley steps out of a vintage Mustang with the “HM 20” license plate. She is also seen wearing black and gold stiletto boots, a nod to her popstar character’s style.
“‘Hannah Montana’ opened the door for so many fans to dream big, sing loud, and embrace every side of themselves, which is why its legacy continues to shine across generations,” said Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television. “Partnering with Miley on this special is a dream, and we want it to be a love letter to the fans, who remain as passionate today as they were when the series debuted almost 20 years ago.”
“Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special” will hit the streaming platform Disney+ on March 24.
It is produced by HopeTown Entertainment and Unwell Productions, with Ashley Edens as the showrunner. Meanwhile, Miley, her mother Tish Cyrus-Purcell, Alex Cooper, and Matt Kaplan will executive produce the special.
As of writing, Miley is the only confirmed cast member returning for the special.
Miley previously hinted about a Hannah-versary in July 2025, after she told Ryan Seacrest in an interview that she wants to design something “really, really special” for the highly anticipated anniversary.
