National Book Store has launched what it calls the Philippines’ first 24/7 book vending machine, offering readers round-the-clock access to books through a cashless, self-service system.
Called 'Book Drop', the vending machine was launched Monday, Oct. 12, at NBS Park, located at 125 Pioneer St. in Mandaluyong City.
The machine features a curated selection of titles, initially focusing on cozy fiction, with prices reportedly starting at 50 pesos. Its selection is expected to change every one to two months to introduce readers to different themes and titles.
Designed for readers who want to pick up a book at any time of day, Book Drop allows customers to browse and purchase titles without the need for traditional bookstore operating hours.
Beside the vending machine is an open-shelf mini library where visitors can share books and discover titles left by other members of the community.
The addition combines automated book retail with a community-based reading space, offering visitors another way to access and exchange books beyond conventional bookstore shelves.
With its 24-hour availability, Book Drop brings a new format to book shopping in the Philippines, making reading materials accessible even outside regular business hours.
