The MBC Media Group (MMG) has announced the cancellation of the much-anticipated Aliwan Fiesta 2026, which was originally scheduled for May 7–9.

In an official statement, MBC Media Group explained, “This decision was reached in light of recent developments, particularly the rising cost of fuel, which has significantly affected travel and logistical expenses for participating contingents.”

The organizers emphasized that the welfare, safety, and convenience of participants and stakeholders were their primary concerns in making the difficult decision. Last year, the 2025 edition of the festival was also cancelled, making the last successful staging of Aliwan Fiesta in 2024.

Aliwan Fiesta, dubbed the “Grand Festival of Champions,” is an annual celebration showcasing the Philippines’ rich cultural heritage through vibrant street dances, colorful costumes, and competitive performances from various regional festivals.

The MMG expressed gratitude to supporters and expressed hope, saying, “We remain hopeful that the festival can be staged again under more favorable circumstances, and we look forward to celebrating with you in the future.”

Aliwan Fiesta remains a key cultural event in the Philippines, celebrated for promoting regional pride and the country’s diverse traditions.
