Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso urged residents to avoid using illegal firecrackers during the New Year celebrations, warning that violators may face arrest and possible jail time.

Moreno said there are safer and more enjoyable ways to welcome the New Year without putting lives and property at risk. He added that the Manila Police District (MPD) will intensify patrols and the confiscation of prohibited fireworks across the city.

The mayor stressed that the city’s extensive CCTV system will help authorities identify and apprehend violators. He emphasized that the local government’s priority is to ensure a safe, peaceful, and orderly New Year celebration for all Manileños and their families.
