Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso led the turnover of 100 ECG machines, 100 laptops, and 100 printers to 44 health centers across the city on Monday, aiming to strengthen frontline healthcare services and improve operational efficiency.
The ceremony was attended by City Health Officer Dr. Grace Padilla, Assistant City Health Officer Dr. Ed Santos, health center heads, and pharmacists. The distribution ensures that each health center receives two ECG machines, along with upgraded IT equipment to replace outdated systems.
Domagoso said the initiative responds to conditions he personally observed during visits, noting worn-out diagnostic tools and computers running on outdated software. “Some of your ECG machines even had Scotch tape. At least now you have extra units,” he said.
He emphasized that the equipment rollout directly addresses requests from health center personnel and reflects the city’s effort to allocate public funds efficiently under the Minimum Basic Needs framework, which prioritizes healthcare, education, housing, and jobs.
The mayor also expressed trust in health workers, urging them to continue their critical role as frontline caregivers before and after hospital treatment, and assured them of the city government’s ongoing support to enhance public healthcare delivery in Manila.
