The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that Mayon Volcano remains under Alert Level 3 as of 12:00 AM on 10 May 2026, indicating ongoing high-level volcanic activity.

PHIVOLCS said the volcano continues its effusive eruption on its 126th consecutive day. Lava flows are being observed in the Basud (3.8 km), Bonga (3.2 km), and Mi-isi (1.6 km) gullies. The activity is accompanied by intermittent weak Strombolian eruptions, pyroclastic density currents (PDC) or locally known as “uson,” and frequent rockfalls.

A total of 11 volcanic earthquakes were recorded, including 3 volcanic tremors lasting 15 to 133 minutes. Authorities also noted 313 rockfall events and 12 PDC signals.

Sulfur dioxide emissions were measured at 2,443 tonnes per day as of 09 May 2026. A plume rising up to 200 meters from the crater was observed, drifting west to southwest and west.

Ground deformation data showed short-term deflation of the volcano with signs of inflation in the northeastern sector.

PHIVOLCS also released earlier footage showing short-lived lava fountaining at the summit crater at 07:38 PM on 09 May 2026, captured by its Quick Response Team.

Alert Level 3 remains in effect, and authorities continue to enforce a strict ban on entry into the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone due to risks of sudden eruptions, lava flows, rockfalls, and pyroclastic density currents.

Residents are advised to follow official evacuation orders and monitor updates from authorities.
