Mayon Volcano continued its unrest on Thursday, recording a total of 116 volcanic earthquakes, including 19 volcanic tremors and 296 rockfall events, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

From 12 a.m. on Wednesday to 12 a.m. on Thursday, lava continues to flow through the gullies up to 3.8 kilometers Basud, 3.2 kilometers in Bonga, and 1.3 kilometers in Mi-si, accompanied by intermittent weak strombolian activity and short-lived lava fountaining.

Mayon Volcano emitted 702 tonnes of sulfur dioxide gases on April 1, while the volcanic plume reached 1,000 meters above the crater, drifting southwest with moderate steaming.

Ground deformation monitoring also indicates continued swelling of the volcano.

Under Alert Level 3, the volcano shows an intensified unrest or magmatic unrest.

Authorities strictly prohibit entry into the six-kilometer permanent danger zone (PDZ) and warn against unnecessary activity in the extended danger zone (EDZ).

On Wednesday, April 1, PHIVOLCS released timelapse camera footage capturing short-duration lava fountaining at the Mayon crater at 5:49 p.m.
