The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that Mayon Volcano experienced 195 volcanic earthquakes, including nine volcanic tremors and 222 rockfall events on Wednesday, April 1.

Based on its 24-hour monitoring from 12 a.m. to 12 a.m., Phivolcs also recorded ongoing lava effusion and lava flow, with lava advancing through the gullies up to 3.8 kilometers Basud, 3.2 kilometers in Bonga, and 1.3 kilometers in Mi-si.

A mild strombolian activity and lava fountaining were observed, while the crater plume reached a height of 700 meters, drifting west-southwest to southwest.

Sulfur dioxide emissions reached 4,361 tons per day as of March 31, indicating sustained volcanic activity, while round deformation and crater glow were also reported.

Due to the heightened volcanic activity, PHIVOLCS maintains Alert Level 3, warning residents to stay out of the six-kilometer permanent danger zone.

Authorities also advise against using aerial vehicles over the volcano. Possible hazards include lava flows, rockfall, minor pyroclastic eruptions, and lahars during heavy rains.
