The effusive eruption of Mayon Volcano continued for the 57th consecutive day on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
“Effusive eruption at Mayon Volcano continues for the 57th consecutive day, generating incandescent lava flows, pyroclastic density currents (PDC) or ‘uson’, and rockfalls,” the agency said.
Phivolcs also released time-lapse footages showing minor strombolian activities recorded at 7:16 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday. The brief bursts of volcanic activity were observed from the summit crater and were accompanied by the ejection of glowing fragments.
Alert Level 3 remains in effect over Mayon Volcano indicating intensified o magmatic unrest.
The agency reiterated that entry into the six-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) around the volcano must remain strictly prohibited due to the continuing threats of lava flows, PDCs, rockfalls, and other volcanic hazards.
