Several houses in a residential subdivision in Molino, Bacoor, Cavite were submerged in a head-deep flood after a large Maynilad water pipeline burst early Tuesday morning.
In Jecelle Ricafort's report on DZRH's Damdaming Bayan, the incident occurred at around 3 a.m. on September 8, 2026, in the St. Jude–Southvale area.
The strong water pressure damaged doors, personal belongings, and part of a perimeter wall in the area.
Some residents were left in distress as they tried to prevent the water from entering their homes.
On Wednesday, Maynilad told DZRH News that the incident occurred while the company was conducting "testing activities for a new pipeline that had not yet been placed into regular service."
"As of 6:30 a.m. today, 31 houses have been identified as affected, subject to continuing validation as our teams complete the house-to-house assessment and documentation. Damage to vehicles and other personal property is also being consolidated," said Maynilad in a statement.
Maynilad said that its personnel remained at the site overnight to assist affected residents and conduct cleanup operations, including the removal of mud and debris, drainage and desludging assistance, and the securing and reinforcement of affected portions of the perimeter fence.
The company also provided food, drinking water, and other immediate assistance to affected households, according to Maynilad.
Despite the incident, water service to customers in the subdivision remained uninterrupted because the affected pipeline had not yet been placed into regular operation.
Maynilad said, "The exact technical cause of the incident has yet to be determined and remains under investigation."
The water concessionaire said it would continue assisting affected residents, documenting reported property damage, and implementing necessary corrective measures based on the findings of the ongoing assessment.
