Tropical Depression Maymay is now over the Philippine Sea, according to the state weather bureau.

As of 5:00 p.m., Maymay’s center was estimated to be 150 kilometers east northeast of Echague, Isabela, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (km/h) near the center and a gustiness of up to 70 km/h, announced the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

It is currently heading east southeastward at a speed of 35 km/hr.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1, indicating strong winds and a minimal to minor threat to life and property, prevails over the following areas:

• The southeastern portion of mainland Cagayan (Tuao, Piat, Enrile, Alcala, Amulung, Baggao, Solana, Tuguegarao City, Gattaran, Peñablanca, Iguig)

• Isabela

• Quirino

• The northeastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya (Dupax del Norte, Kasibu, Quezon, Bagabag, Diadi, Bayombong, Ambaguio, Villaverde, Bambang, Solano, Alfonso Castañeda, Dupax del Sur)

• The northern and central portions of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao)

• The eastern portion of Kalinga (City of Tabuk, Pinukpuk, Tanudan, Lubuagan, Rizal)

• The eastern portion of Mountain Province (Paracelis, Natonin, Barlig)

• The eastern portion of Ifugao (Lagawe, Aguinaldo, Asipulo, Hingyon, Kiangan, Lamut, Alfonso Lista, Mayoyao, Banaue)

“It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone,” said PAGASA.

PAGASA forecasted that Maymay will continue weakening and may be reduced to a remnant low by tonight or early tomorrow morning, August 7.

The remnant low is predicted to move generally southeastward and eventually merge into the larger Tropical Cyclone Dolphin.
