Mark Llandro “Dong” Mendoza has been designated as the new Senate Secretary, replacing Renato Bantug Jr., who recently retired from government service.
During the Senate session on Monday, February 2, Senator Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri nominated Mendoza, a former House secretary general, for the position.
“As such Mr President, I nominate Mr. Mark Llandro Mendoza as our Senate Secretary. This is history in the making, marking the first time the [former] Secretary General of the House of Representatives to also serve as the Secretary of the Senate,” Zubiri stated.
Zubiri added that if there is anyone that senators can trust to handle the affairs of the Senate with competence and integrity, it is Mendoza.
Voting for the Senate Secretary position was conducted via viva voce or voice voting, with no other candidate lined up for the position.
Mendoza was proclaimed Senate Secretary with no objection.
Following this, retired Air Force Major General Edgardo Rene Samonte was also proclaimed as the Chief of the Office of the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA).
