Actress Marjorie Barretto has spoken out following the release of her mother Inday Barretto’s interview with Ogie Diaz, where several personal remarks about their family were made public.

In a lengthy social media post, Marjorie expressed her deep hurt and confusion over her mother’s statements, saying the interview came just as the family was still mourning the sudden death of her brother.

“Something is weighing so heavily on my heart right now… I woke up to frantic calls and messages from loved ones saying that my mom had said very hurtful and untrue things about me,” she wrote.

Marjorie clarified that she and her mother were on good terms prior to the interview, recounting that they were together daily during her late brother’s wake and inurnment.

She also denied claims that she was “embarrassed” by her mother, saying it was actually her mom’s request not to post their photos together to avoid upsetting her sisters, Gretchen and Claudine.

“Why would you say that, Mom? You know very well you’ve often asked me not to post photos of us together because Gretchen and Claudine might get upset,” she said.

Marjorie described her pain over being labeled as distant and envious, saying such words were far from the truth. She also mentioned that she has often been misunderstood for being “strong-willed,” which she believes should not be taken against her.

“With my mom, if you are not a problematic child, you become the least favorite,” she wrote, adding that her silence “was no longer giving me peace.”

Despite the emotional tone of her statement, Marjorie ended by affirming her love for her mother, saying she has accepted whatever kind of love her mom can give and is now focused on being the best mother she can be to her own children.

“Mom, I want you to know that I love you… Instead of looking for affection and protection from you, I will pour all my energy into being the best mom to my children.”

The post has since garnered mixed reactions online, with many expressing sympathy for the actress and others hoping for reconciliation within the Barretto family.
