The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) has provided ₱55,000 in financial assistance to survivors of the MV June Aster fire, it told the Senate Committee on Public Services.

During the hearing, MARINA said its Region 4A office raised the amount through a fundraising run and turned it over to the survivors’ families through their designated representative.

Senator Raffy Tulfo asked the agency how much assistance it had provided to the victims.

Tulfo commended MARINA for its efforts, saying, “Maliit na bagay pero yung effort ang maganda roon,” recognizing the agency’s initiative to help the survivors.
