The water level at Marikina River remains in second alarm as of Monday noon, according to a report by RH 52 Edniel Parrosa.

However, the river’s water level has exceeded 16 meters, prompting preemptive evacuation in barangays close to the river.

As of this afternoon, the river has spilled out onto Bayan Access Road by the river—past the railings and onto the cemented route.

A number of evacuees who earlier sought refuge at the Malanday Elementary School—considered one of the biggest evacuation centers in Marikina City—have begun returning to their homes to clean these out.

Others, in view of the prevailing second alarm, chose to stay at evacuation centers.

The local government has extended aid to affected residents, according to Parrosa.

As of its latest weather advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a yellow rainfall warning for Metro Manila, which includes Marikina City.

Meanwhile, an orange rainfall warning was issued for Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro for Monday until Tuesday, August 11.
