The first alarm was raised at the Marikina River on Wednesday morning after the water level reached 15 meters.

The water level surged again amid heavy rainfall in Metro Manila. Despite this, many have been sighted fishing under the Sto. Niño Bridge in the hopes of catching food, reported RH 52 Edniel Parrosa.

Speaking to DZRH, Mang Anselmo and Kuya Rey, carrying bait and fishing rods, said cream dories and other such fish can sometimes be caught even in rushing, muddy waters.

The two said that if they were to catch anything, they would bring these back to their family instead of selling them.

They have been fishing for an entire morning and have not caught any fish.

The first alarm signals to residents a possible evacuation, especially among Barangays Sto. Niño, Tumana, Nangka, and Malanday.
