Local authorities raised the second alarm along the Marikina River on Sunday morning after the water level reached 16.0 meters.

The second alarm was raised at 10:56 a.m., according to the Marikina City Public Information Office.

Under the city’s alert system, the first alarm is raised when the river reaches 15 meters, signaling residents to prepare for possible evacuation. The second alarm is raised when the water level reaches 16 meters, urging residents to evacuate, while the third alarm at 18 meters triggers forced evacuation.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will continue to bring occasional rains over Metro Manila on Sunday.

The state weather bureau also warned of possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall.
