The Marikina River has been downgraded to the first alarm as its water level continued to decline Sunday morning, August 30.

As of 9:22 a.m., the river’s water level had dropped to 15.9 meters following a steady decrease from its peak of 18.4 meters at 11:35 p.m. Saturday, which prompted authorities to raise the third alarm.

Earlier Sunday, the Marikina City Public Information Office reported that the river was at 16.0 meters as of 9 a.m., placing it under the second alarm.

Under Marikina City’s alert system, the first alarm is raised when the river reaches 15 meters, while the second alarm is triggered at 16 meters. The third alarm is raised once the water level reaches 18 meters and calls for mandatory evacuation.
