The chief of the Marikina City Police has been relieved from his post while authorities investigate the alleged rape of a female police officer by two of his subordinates last month.

Accoridng to RH Edniel Parrosa, the announcement was made on Monday during a press briefing at Camp Crame, led by acting Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. and Eastern Police District (EPD) Director Brig. Gen. Abin Lagradante.

According to Nartatez, the PNP will not tolerate such allegations within its ranks and vowed that a thorough investigation will be conducted.

Brig. Gen. Lagradante said the two suspects—a police staff sergeant and a patrolman—are now under custody on “floating status” and were earlier disarmed by the EPD.
