Marikina City Mayor Marjorie Ann “Maan” Teodoro has called for the immediate passage of an ordinance appropriating ₱15 million in emergency humanitarian assistance to urgently restore the water supply in Barangay Tumana, following service disconnection by Manila Water.
In her 19 December 2025 letter to the Sangguniang Panlungsod, the mayor stated, “I respectfully seek the urgent passage of an ordinance appropriating ₱15,000,000.00 as emergency humanitarian assistance to immediately restore the water supply in Barangay Tumana.”
She emphasized that thousands of residents have been left without water, calling the situation a threat to public health, dignity, and safety. The mayor cited Section 16 of the Local Government Code, stressing that providing clean water is a clear duty of government, and urged swift legislative action so residents would not suffer further, especially during the holiday season.
In her Facebook post, Mayor Teodoro reaffirmed her firm stance and commitment to the affected residents.
"Hindi ko hahayaang mag-Pasko ang Tumana na walang tubig… Gagawin natin ang lahat para maibalik agad ang tubig sa Tumana."
Mayor Teodoro ended her appeal by urging the city council to act immediately, underscoring that restoring water service is both a humanitarian necessity and a moral obligation of the city government.
