Malacañang on Monday said President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is concerned about the possible impact of impeachment complaints filed against him, stressing that his worry is focused on the country’s economy rather than his personal situation.

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said the President is not anxious about his position, as he is confident he has committed no wrongdoing or impeachable offense. Instead, Marcos is concerned about how the political developments could affect economic stability and the country as a whole.

Castro added that political uncertainty could have broader consequences beyond the President, particularly on investor confidence and overall economic performance.

As of Monday, two impeachment complaints against President Marcos have been declared “sufficient in form” by the House Committee on Justice, allowing the process to move forward.

“That’s the process. We have to respect that,” Castro said, emphasizing that Malacañang respects the constitutional procedures being undertaken by Congress.

She reiterated that the President remains confident in his actions and record.

“Even before, sinabi na po ng Pangulo na alam niya na wala siyang ginawang mali, wala siyang ginawang...Kumpiyansa siya sa sarili niya,” Castro said.

Malacañang reiterated its position that it will respect the decisions of Congress and allow the impeachment process to proceed in accordance with the Constitution.

Meanwhile, on the same day, two impeachment complaints were also filed against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Castro clarified that Malacañang has no involvement in the filing of any impeachment complaints, whether against the President or the Vice President.

“I believe they are the same, almost the same allegations made even before when the first impeachment complaint was filed. So nothing new or maybe a little, few,“ Castro stressed.

She added: “But even if we do not have any hand, we are not responsible to the filing of those complaints or impeachment complaints, so it's up to the Congress to evaluate and decide with regard to the subject matter.“
