The summons also follows the release of an AI-generated video by Chinese state-run media outlet China Daily that depicted Filipinos as "monkeys," drawing strong condemnation from the Philippine government.

Earlier, Castro said the President condemned both the assault on the Philippine Navy personnel and the racist portrayal of Filipinos.

She added that Marcos supports the government's response to the incident and stands behind efforts to defend the country's interests in the WPS.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has already filed a diplomatic protest over the AI-generated video, calling it "blatantly demeaning, dehumanizing and racist" and demanding that it be taken down.

Meanwhile, Beijing earlier summoned Philippine Ambassador to China Jaime Adriano FlorCruz to lodge what it described as "solemn representations" over the Philippines' alleged "deliberate provocation and attack" against CCG law enforcement personnel during Monday's confrontation.
