President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said he and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos hope to have a grandchild, as he answered netizens’ questions about Christmas traditions during a recent online interaction.

“Ang lagi naming tinatanong sa mga anak namin, yung tatlong anak kong lalaki, bakit wala pa kaming apo?” the President said.

The President responded to queries on common holiday practices such as exchange gifts, potluck gatherings, and the giving of “pamasko” by godparents to their godchildren.

On recycled gifts, Marcos said any present received should be appreciated and may also be passed on to others who can make use of it.

He also addressed questions about holiday food, saying people may enjoy traditional dishes such as leche flan and lumpiang shanghai, but reminded the public to eat in moderation.

Marcos noted that cases of heart attack usually increase during the Christmas season due to excessive intake of sweet, fatty, and salty food.

For those hosting celebrations, the President suggested preparing more food so guests can bring some home.

He also offered advice on how to respond to comments about weight gain during the holidays and said gift-giving has become easier with the availability of e-wallets for sending cash gifts.

Asked about his Christmas wish, Marcos said he and the First Lady have been asking their three sons when they will have a grandchild, a remark echoed by Araneta-Marcos, who said this was also her wish for the season.

“Tama ‘yan honey, sana all, ‘yan ang Christmas wish ko,” the First Lady said.
