President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. described the two impeachment complaints filed against him as merely a “political move,” as reported by RH Leth Narciso.
He welcomed the dismissal of the complaints, saying they were only a “distraction” from his work as president.
In an interview with reporters on Friday, February 6, Marcos said he was not overly concerned about the complaints, which were declared "insufficient in substance" by the House Committee on Justice.
“I'm glad that now the impeachment complaints against me have been finished. As the statement that we made earlier, I'm happy that it's done and we can get on with our work. Because these things are distractions from the things that we were doing,” Marcos told reporters.
He added that he was confident from the beginning that the complaints would not prosper.
“Although I wasn't very worried because I saw the impeachment complaint and I knew that I would be all right in terms of the impeachment process. There were no real grounds for the impeachment. It was a political move as usual,” the President said.
Marcos described the move as a welcome development that allows the government to focus on its work.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to focusing on governance and delivering services to the Filipino people.
