President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. on Friday assured the public that the Philippines has sufficient crude oil supply to last until June 30, 2026, amid ongoing concerns over global fuel price volatility driven by tensions in the Middle East.

During the opening of the NAIAX westbound off-ramp leading to Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3, the President confirmed that the government has already secured enough crude oil imports for the coming months.

“Mayroon na tayong supply of crude oil, sufficient supply of crude oil hanggang June 30,” Marcos said in a media briefing.

“Pero patuloy pa rin ang ating paghahanap ng supply, patuloy pa rin ang ating pagsuporta sa ating mga commuter, para naman mabawasan ang bigat ng epekto nitong [nangyayari] sa Middle East,” he added.

According to the administration, the country currently maintains around 45 days’ worth of fuel supply. The President has also directed the Department of Energy (DOE) to procure additional oil to build up buffer stock.

The assurance comes after Malacañang confirmed on Thursday that a shipment of more than 700,000 barrels of Russian crude oil had recently arrived in the country.

Earlier, on March 24, Marcos issued Executive Order No. 110, declaring a state of national energy emergency.

The order will remain in effect for one year unless lifted or extended sooner, and aims to bolster the country’s oil supply amid rising fuel prices and continued instability in the global energy market.
