President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will welcome President Santiago Peña Palacios of the Republic of Paraguay for an official visit to the Philippines on May 11, 2026, Palace announced.

In a official announement on Tuesday, Palace said Paraguay's President will be accorded official honors at Malacañan Palace, where he and Marcos will hold a bilateral meeting to discuss measures aimed at enhancing cooperation and promoting mutual development between the two countries.

According to the Palace, the discussions will focus on expanding collaboration in key sectors such as trade and investment, as well as agriculture.

“The visit marks a significant milestone in the deepening of Philippines-Paraguay bilateral relations as it will be the first presidential visit between the two countries, building on a history of constructive engagement and high-level exchanges over the past six decades of diplomatic ties,” the Palace said in a statement.

“Both nations seek to expand cooperation across a range of sectors, including trade and investment, and agriculture,” it added.

This is the first time that a President of Paraguay will visit the country since diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Paraguay were established in 1962.

The upcoming visit highlights continued efforts to broaden engagement with Latin American partners and diversify economic cooperation.

Paraguay is regarded as an emerging partner of the Philippines in Latin America, with both nations sharing common values rooted in democracy, the rule of law, and international cooperation.
