President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered a thorough investigation into the shooting incident that occurred inside San Jose National High School in Tacloban City on Monday, June 22.

Palace Undersecretary Claire Castro said the President was saddened by the incident and extended his sympathies to the victims and their families.

“Ikinalulungkot ng Pangulo ang pangyayari. Kahit sino pa man, lalo na ang magulang ng mga biktima, ay makakaramdam ng lungkot at takot,” Castro said.

According to Castro, Marcos directed authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident and to strengthen security measures in schools and other public places.

“Inuutos ang malalimang pag-iimbestiga rito at pinapasiguro ang proteksyon at kaligtasan sa lahat ng lugar, opisina, establisimyento lalong-lalo na sa mga paaralan,” she added.

The shooting left three people dead and five others injured, according to initial police reports. Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Raymund Romualdez and Barangay Captain Lucille Bahin Macato of Barangay 87, Manlurip, San Jose, said the death toll has risen to four, as reported by RH Jimmy Angay-Angay.

Authorities have taken into custody two suspects, aged 14 and 15, who are currently being held by the Tacloban City Police.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
